Conclusion: Pastor Kiluba wa Kiluba’s approach to spiritual works.

Day 24

Success Marathon Series

Scripture Reading:

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have–Jesus Christ. Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials–gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value.

1 Corinthians 3:10-12, NLT

This series on success marathons would be incomplete without speaking about evaluation. We will attempt to paraphrase the principles elaborated in an interview done by Pastor Kiluba wa Kiluba on Omega, that is available on our Youtube channel (See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0DEX7ROcrQ).

We have made a success marathon synonymous to our works in our post simply because that the only thing that validates a success marathon is its product or outcome. Now that we speak of a product, outcome or output, this calls for some form of evaluation of the work.

If God, after creating the earth, evaluated His work in the terms, “And God saw that all He created was good…” (Genesis 1:31) then our works will not escape. The true evaluation of a work is fire. It is at this point in our key scripture that the apostle Paul warns the builder (the success marathon runner), to consider how they build.

Consider also the reason why death could not hold Jesus. it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him The scriptural reference speaks as follows, But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. David said about him:“‘I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” (See Acts 2:24-25, NIV). It goes on to say in Psalms 16:10“…For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay…”NASV. The Holiness of Christ exempted Him of decay. This was so after God had evaluated the life work of Christ. Be reminded that the words of King David are prophetic because Psalms was written many years before Jesus but God had already evaluated His righteousness and made a judgment that he was not worthy of death. Can God say the same for us? If you consider the apostle Paul you realize that the fire or the power of evaluation equally precedes our works. Therefore every work should begin, carried out and completed with a the mindset that it will tested by fire which is non other than a thorough evaluation.

Therefore, will your success marathon stand the test of fire? This test begins by assessing your motives, your commitment from the start to the end and  how your work will benefit others. When we pass the test of fire God will give our work a temporal, fading glory or  a permanent, unfading, state of glory. It is a function of God’s sovereignty.

Prayer and Meditation:

Lord,

May I not fail when my works are tested by fire. Instead may my works show to be made of gold.

May you grant me the ability to go till the end no matter what happens in all my success marathons.

Amen

Success marathons should become a race towards eternity

Day 23

Success Marathon Series

Scripture Reading:

Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)

Revelations 19:8, NIV

The divine conception of man, even his manifestation on the earth by the hand of God, his handiwork –  always included work. The Bible supports this thought by saying that God put man in the garden to keep it and work it. as the scriptures read “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it” (Genesis 2: 15, NIV) Work is not a product of sin, however it affects our work and productivity. We understand this from the judgment that was passed by God in the court of the Garden of Eden against Adam, Eve and the Serpent. God’s curse touched working conditions, as the scriptures state; “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return” (Genesis 3;19, NIV). However, we know that the cross has delivered us from this curse as we know from the word that He was cursed so that we may be blessed (See Genesis 3:13-14). Therefore, any form of  work that is disproportionate to the remuneration for the work, or any form of slave driving, is a negation of the Cross, that is the spirit of the anti-Christ.

On the matter of slavery, God made an example of the entire nation of Egypt by showing what  the reward is for enslaving others. It was ten plagues and the slaying of Egypt’s firstborn, which meant that God was taking away the socio-economical and political dominance of this nation for having practiced slavery (see Exodus 7:14-11:10) ). May he that has ears, listen to what the Spirit teaches the Earth. It important to see that God was already speaking against slave trade and its abolishment centuries before the human race realized that this practice was inhumane. Let’s not forget that the anointing that was on Jesus, which is the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is a force against oppression, slavery and imprisonment as it is seen in Isaiah 61. We dare to believe that spiritual revivals in nations bring among other things economical progress and reformation of Labor laws. Therefore, we should pray for revival, and entrepreneurs should financially support the preaching of the Gospel of Christ that brings revival as an investment towards the economic progress of their nation. There is no shred of doubt that oppression and slavery are satanic practices; it is clearly portrayed in Acts 10:38, as it reads, “And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him” (NLT) .

Yes, dear brothers and sisters, you can see that the Gospel affects man’s entire being. We have touched a little on the socio-economic aspects and we have more to say on health, ethics, morals, philosophy, spirituality and related subjects that concern the believer as well as the unbeliever. Remember that the death and resurrection was not for a select few, but for the reformation of mankind in the preparation for the kingdom of heaven. Returning to our topic, the works of the righteous are symbolized by linen, the descriptions of them being fine, pure and bright refers to their state of glory and perfection.  Note that God began in Genesis, speaking about works and now, in the end, in the book of Revelation, He is still speaking about works. Essentially, we have explained these things to you so that you see your success marathons as a race towards eternity. There are other mysteries that we would have liked to expounded on  such as why our works are symbolized by a clothing or “a covering”. In the end, understand that God will crown the success marathons that are done within the boundaries of the divine principles that we have shared throughout this series.

May God bless you as you ponder on the following verse,

Blessed are those who die in the Lord … for their deeds will follow them.

(Revelations 14:13)

 Prayer

Lord, may I not lose sight of the principles that matter in eternity,

May I work in your divine ways, that my works may count for eternity.

I seek your ways, teach me, and crown all my success marathons.

Amen

Crowned within the rules

Day 22

Success Marathon Series

Scripture Reading:

Then Moses set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and altar and put up the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses finished the work.  Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

Exodus 40:33-34, NIV

See that you make them according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.

Exodus 25:40, NIV

God will crown a work that is done faithfully. God is faithful and when we are faithful we show that we are thorough. Faithfulness in the context of this post will be used in terms of the level of thoroughness. Faithfulness is the opposite of negligence.  When we are faithful in all details of work, we reveal God to the world.

In this fallen world, we still find some perfect things –  faithfulness is one of them. Romans  speaks of the invisible perfections of God being revealed in the created things, as the scriptures read, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse” (Romans 1:20, NIV), among the perfect attributes of God we find  faithfulness. It is not something tangible however, it is felt in every work that is governed by it. It is a pleasant aroma.

In addition faithfulness, as a principle, opens the door to inheritance. This was the case of Eliezer, servant of Abraham, whose faithfulness got him provisionally appointed as Abraham’s heir.  In this passage, before God clarifies that Abraham would have a heir of his own he asks the Lord, “Since you’ve given me no children, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth” (Genesis 15:2, NLTb). In this instance Eliezer was not even aware that his master had seen it fit for an inheritance to be coming his way. Such is the blessing of the faithful.

Interestingly, faithfulness is a principle that gives one the power of passive dispossession. This principle  we find it in the parable of the talents (See Matthew 25: 14-30). The faithful servants in addition to the profit they earned found the talents of the unfaithful servant added to them. Simply put, the faithful will passively dispossess the unfaithful. Passively, in that they will not make an more effort than just being faithful in their own work.

In conclusion, the apostle Paul poses the notion that athletes cannot be crowned unless they run by the rules. As it reads, “Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules” (2 Timothy 2:5, NIV).We encourage our readers to adopt a faithfulness or thoroughness in work, because doing things otherwise will result in automatic disqualification. Finishing is not enough, we need to finish in all faithfulness.

Prayer and Meditation

Lord,

May you help me to be faithful in all the areas of responsibility that you have given me.

Amen

JTL Devotionals 1

The end of all success marathons is glory

Day 21

Success Marathon Series

Scripture Reading:

“I have glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, GLORIFY me in your presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.”

John 17:4-5, ESV, emphasis added

In order for Christ to glorify you should glorify Him first. Let’s review at this point who the benefactor of the success that we desperately seeking on this earth is! In our theme scripture, Jesus was not seeking His glory on this earth but God’s. There is no glory on this earth that can satisfy; this is what the book of Ecclesiastes calls the vanity and a chasing of the wind (See 2:11). Jesus teaches us here that glory is God’s endorsement for every finished work that was done under the guidance of God’s council which is his mountain of revelation that he  gives us directly or indirectly.

Psalm 8:5 tells the following about man,  God “…crowned him with glory and honour.” We understand then, that these things come from God. Crowns can be acquired by victory or simply by inheritance. The apostle Paul said,I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing” (2 Timothy 4: 7- 8, NASB). Here you can see the crown by victory.  Paul finished the race but he had to wait on God to endorse his finished work. Elsewhere, it is written to the church to the church of Smyrna, “…Be faithful unto death (the end) and I will give you the crown of life” (See Rev 2:10). Thus they had to face a tribulation of ten days to earn the crown. God wants  us to establish the fruits of our success and this possible when we honour him through our TITHES. These tithes are not only related to material things. God’s wants you to dedicate a portion of our careers to Him. For instance Joseph of Arimathea went to the authority to request Jesus’ body (See John 19:38), indeed he used his socio-economic and politic influence for the kingdom of God. I tell you brothers and sisters that was his tithe. Let’s us reveal you a mystery briefly on this matter. At one point Jesus spoke to an individual who wanted to follow Him in the mission, “Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” (Luke 9:5, NIV). Therefore Jesus was speaking about not having a place to rest in a very different context, yet it is this same Joseph of Arimathea that unknowingly answered the cry of our Saviour and gave his grave for Jesus to be buried in an HONOURABLE manner. Interestingly, at the resurrection, the angels testified saying, “He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying (Matthew 28:6, NIV) Oh hallelujah! See how a simple but heartfelt act of service brought Jesus a place to rest.

Other examples include the family of Bethany who used the skills of hospitality to host Jesus (See Matthew 21: 17). This was really their tithe. When Lazarus died, Jesus said to Martha, “If you believe you will see the GLORY of God” (See John 11: 40). The resurrection of  Lazarus was a glory from God to endorse the work of hospitality of this family. It is in the same line of thought that Dorcas received glory from God or was resurrected because she made her business and skill available for the kingdom (See Acts 9: 36- 40). There are many examples that clearly show that those who glorify God on earth will partake of the eternal glory. Allow us to shock you on this matter, the Bible says, “For all have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God…” (See Romans 3:23) Brothers and Sisters, there is nothing truly glorious on this earth. Therefore, let’s bring everything we have to the cross and exchange it for the glory of the eternal God that will never fade away and that will cross the veil into the kingdom of heaven. We speak in this manner that you may not put your trust in this world and all that it holds, but rather strive to glorify God on earth with all that you have.

Prayer and Meditation:

Lord,

I submit all that I am, I give myself entirely to you that I tithe my very self.

May I live to do good on this earth so that glory is brought into your name.

Amen

JTL Devotionals 1

Implementation conclusion: No more delays!

Day 20

Success Marathon Series

Scripture Reading:

For the LORD will carry out his sentence upon the earth quickly and with finality.

Romans 9:28,ESV

There is characteristic that we find among believers that is not in the Bible. This is a SLOW spirit in carrying out what God requires of them or what God has destined them to. We are not sure where this spirit of slowness is coming from because the spiritual world of both darkness and light are places where things are carried out quickly. We ask the question, “Who taught you to be slow?” If your answer is “I do not know” then understand that what changed the attitude of the Galatians to the Gospel is at work in you. On this matter, the apostle exclaims, “…Galatians! Who has bewitched you?” (See Galatians 3:1). Yes, there is a spiritual force of evil behind slowness that is the power of witchcraft. Overcome today and experience the power of restoration of the time that the locust devoured, which is time that was lost being recovered in Christ, elsewhere it is virtually impossible.

Let’s consider the spiritual world of darkness where Satan is king. In this place the Bible reveals that intensity of the Battle we are experiencing from Satan is dependent on time. It is written, “Woe unto the earth for Satan has come towards you with great anger because he knows he has LITTLE TIME.” (See Revelation 12:12, emphasis added). Brothers and Sisters, even our enemy is time conscious. To work fast is to be time conscious, but slowness is likened to being in a coma with regards to time. Awaken today! May you receive revival in your time management! Elsewhere, it is written that Satan left Jesus until a favorable time. You will quickly realize that Satan’s plans of evil are scheduled and are carried out quickly with devastation. This feature is observed in the life Job where the enemy, in a short space of time, leveled all of Job’s life work. Learn today what it means that if God does not keep the house, those who keep it, keep it in vain (See Psalms 127:1). If these examples do not give you reason to quit a slow spirit, then the following examples should be more compelling!

Let’s consider the spiritual world of light; the Bible speaks of the Holy Spirit coming into the upper room as a rushing wind (See Acts 2:2)! Brothers and Sisters, no delays! The move of the Spirit of God is quick and accurate. Remember that they had not made any arrangement for a crusade in Jerusalem. On that day the Lord organized a crowd and a stage for the apostle Peter, who won 3000 souls after his sermon that was neither planned nor rehearsed (See Acts 2:41). They moved in the quickness of the Spirit that spared them or allowed them to transcend the principles of normal organization. Many people miss their deliverance because of the spirit of slowness. When the angel of the Lord came to rescue them from prison, he awoke Peter and said, “Get up quickly” (See Acts 12:7), and the Bible notes that the chains fell on their own. Oh Hallelujah! He did not speak to chains but rather to a slowness that was observed and the chains fell spontaneously. Awaken from the spirit of slowness and see chains falling. Our Lord Jesus Christ made this observation with regards to slowness, “Truly, I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you do” (See Matthew 21:31).

Since we do not know the day nor the hour of our Lords visitation, let there be no delays on our side, there should be a readiness to receive and to act quickly on God’s commands and inner promptings or conviction of the Holy Spirit. This is because slowness is an attitude of heart rather than to lack the means to do things quickly. On this matter the Psalmist says, “So teach us to number our days…” (See Psalm 90:12)

Prayer and Meditation:

Lord,

May you teach us to be quickened in our spirit for you are  God who works with accuracy and quickness.

May we not cause delays in your work for you have trusted us with the gospel of salvation to the nations.

Amen

Implementation and resources

Day 19

Success Marathon Series

Scripture Reading:

“…wisdom is better than might, though the poor man’s wisdom is despised and his words are not heard.”

Ecclesiastes 9:16, ESV

Implementation requires resources and the sad reality of this is that some good plans that are able to change the state of things in the world are buried due to the lack of resources. We can see here that a revival can be buried by the lack of resources. Resources amplify the voice of revival by allowing missions to extend to unreached populations.

The children of Israel were called to go the desert to worship God and build him a tabernacle (See Exodus 5:1). God proclaimed to Abraham 400 earlier that the deliverance of Israel will also release resources to carry the revival to the Palestine region, in particular,  Canaan (See Genesis 15:13-14). There are many people that have experienced a partial deliverance; they still need to be released at the level of resources. We need to pray for the release of resources in the works of  ministries that have an effective revival of the Holy Spirit.

The wind of the Holy Spirit did not only come with spiritual things but it also brought a spirit of giving generously, “…many were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold and laid it at the apostles’ feet…a Levite, a native of Cyprus sold a field that belonged to him and brought the money and laid it at the apostle’s feet” (See Acts 4: 34-37). Such generous giving is not common practice nowadays. The Bible prophesies on the current attitude towards generous giving as follows, “…In the last days…people will be lovers of self, lovers of money…” (See 2 Timothy 3:1-2) Thus, a change in the generosity is listed as one of the early signs of the last days – the love of money.

All teachings that are against the doctrine of giving are an initiative by Satan to repress revival. We do not put resources at the centre of our Gospel, but Christ and Him crucified the power of salvation for the believer. However,  generous giving is a victory of the negative influence of the last days. Furthermore, we know that it is also written, “…In the last days, I will pour my Spirit on all flesh…” (See Acts 2: 17) Therefore, in the above scripture we see that Holy Spirit is deployed in the same season to counteract egocentric inclinations and the love of money in order to release resources that will propel the revival from resource poor areas to the ends of the earth. Therefore, everyone should evaluate their level of giving to see if they have not been overcome by the negative influences of the last days. Nevertheless, the Holy Spirit is also released to assist people to give generously towards missions in order to see the plans of God executed in all the nations of the earth.

Prayer and Meditation:

Lord,

May the hands of man be extended in giving to support the revival.

May my heart be opened more and more in order that I resource the gospel of salvation to the nations in as far as I can.

Increase my capacity to give

Amen

Implementation and Power

Day 18

Success Marathon Series

Scripture Reading:

I can DO all THINGS through Christ who gives me STRENGTH.

Philippians 4:13

It is impossible to execute, or implement, without power or some form of invested authority.

Let’s return to the beginning at man’s creation. God did not only create man and simply leave him on earth to find his way. Rather, the Bible says that God blessed man and put everything under his feet or under his authority (See Genesis 1:26-28). Man, created in the image of God, is invested with authority over creation. However, this era was short-lived because sin made its way into the world, and creation became hostile to man with the ground producing thorns and thistles. Nevertheless, this authority over created things was not completely removed, thus we see man is still enabled to execute works, but the work is now done in pain as it is written,

Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your brow
    you will eat your food
” … (See Genesis 3:17-19)

However, the lack of power is still evident, especially where spiritual things are concerned; we see this in the strong statement of the apostle Paul, “at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. (See Romans 5:6). This scripture portrays that all creation is powerless in matters of salvation. No one can put together a set of principles and implement them to obtain salvation apart from Christ, as such power is non-existent among the inhabitants of the earth.

Furthermore, within the Christian life, the apostle Paul describes a situation of no power, “For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing” (See Romans 7:19). We find it interesting he speaks of “doing” and we see an absence of power to access this doing. Be reminded that in the previous post we saw the apostle James appealing for people to become “doers of the word” (Ref: Post on Implementation and Strategy). The realisation of what is shared here by the apostle Paul may create a negativity within us.

Elsewhere, however, the apostle Paul shares with us an insight that uplifts our spirit. He says, “I can DO all THINGS through Christ who gives me STRENGTH.(See Philippians 4:13). Hallelujah, “I can do”; ability is released. Therefore, the apostle James was not putting a mammoth task ahead of the believer to practice or implement, but rather he was aware that Jesus Christ gives the ability to meet this end, and he reminds the reader that our mind-set should be geared towards implementation.

The ability that Jesus Christ gives enables us to do EVERYTHING without exception. This simply means that we are enabled both physically and spiritually. Everything includes prayer, reading the bible, living a holy life etc… Let us not stop there, this same strengthening supports the scientists and enables them to make discoveries. It guides the business person in honestly managing the resources that God has entrusted. The list is endless. We are worried when we see believers dissociating their Christian life from their day to day activity. Let’s not limit Jesus, it is time to see Him as He is, so that we can become like Him in the world.

Prayer and Meditation:

I praise you Lord!

Hallelujah! I receive the power to implement all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I declare and apply this enabling Power of Christ in all spiritual and physical areas of my life that are experiencing limitations.

Lord, extend your power of salvation to many who are powerless to implement your will.

Amen

Implementation and Strategy

Day 17

Success Marathon Series

“Implementation” is defined in the advanced English dictionary and Thesaurus as:

Providing a practical means for accomplishing something, or carrying into effect. When we think about implementation, we are implying an execution of plans.

This is an area where many believers, as well as non-believers, experience a lot of failure. Jesus Himself said, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Ref: Luke 6:46). On this matter, the apostle James adds on by saying, Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” (Ref: James 1:22)

These “doers” are individuals that have reached the implementation phase. Failure to effectively implement plans is the main cause of disappointment.

Atheists are said to be people who were previously exposed to some form of religion that did not meet their expectation, and in their disappointment provided themselves with rational arguments to propose the non-existence of divinity. It is important to mention that most atheists come from Christian backgrounds. In the context of our discussion, we believe it is the inability to implement the principle of faith in practical life scenarios that led many to disappointment and to atheism. Poor understanding and grounding of the Word will lead to disappointment due to unmet expectations.

We believe that this discussion is relevant in order to avoid some of the problems that we have noted above. Implementation requires strategy and power. Without these our good ideas remain ineffective and our speech becomes uninspiring. The disciples knew that they needed to organise the last supper at around the Passover but did not know where. This is very common in the Christian that we are aware of the outcome of living the life of Christ, but we do not how. Jesus answered the disciples, Behold, when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him into the house that he enters 11 and tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 12 And he will show you a large upper room furnished; prepare it there.” (Ref: Luke 22:10-12) In this quote he tells them where, and how to get there, and what to say there. This supper, just to remind you, would be the inauguration of ceremonial legacies of our Christian faith, that are full of meaning, and that will not perish with use.

Elsewhere, Jesus said to the disciples, Go into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me (Ref: Matthew 21:2), which was in the preparation of triumphant entry in Jerusalem. You will note that he went on to inform of the challenges that they would meet on the way. However, He rested the heart with the following statement, …the master needs it… (Ref: Matthew 21:3) We will expound more on this response in our next post. What we want to highlight in this post is that Jesus played an instrumental role in the strategies employed to organise the triumphant entry at Jerusalem and the Lord’s Supper.

In it is also important to note that many people do not have a problem with implementing the basic principles of faith, as the young rich man proudly enumerated his flawless observance of the Law of Moses. When the man was challenged to move to another level that Jesus referred to as “…the kingdom of God (Ref: Matthew 19:16-24), he went away without enquiring why Jesus asked him to give away all his possessions. The answer that Jesus gave did not meet his expectation and he went away disappointed. The main issue we discover here is that many are not ready to implement God’s word when it becomes inconveniencing. We observe a selective application in those that practice the Christian faith. This selective application prevents us from entering the kingdom of God, which is His power of implementation.

Prayer and Meditation

Lord, I enter into implementation of your word today, no longer just a listener, but a doer.

I seek your strategy of implementation, show us how.

Stop selective application in my life, I choose to apply everything you say in order to enter your power of implementation.

Amen
