Implementation and Power

Day 18

Success Marathon Series

Scripture Reading:

I can DO all THINGS through Christ who gives me STRENGTH.

Philippians 4:13

It is impossible to execute, or implement, without power or some form of invested authority.

Let’s return to the beginning at man’s creation. God did not only create man and simply leave him on earth to find his way. Rather, the Bible says that God blessed man and put everything under his feet or under his authority (See Genesis 1:26-28). Man, created in the image of God, is invested with authority over creation. However, this era was short-lived because sin made its way into the world, and creation became hostile to man with the ground producing thorns and thistles. Nevertheless, this authority over created things was not completely removed, thus we see man is still enabled to execute works, but the work is now done in pain as it is written,

Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your brow
    you will eat your food
” … (See Genesis 3:17-19)

However, the lack of power is still evident, especially where spiritual things are concerned; we see this in the strong statement of the apostle Paul, “at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. (See Romans 5:6). This scripture portrays that all creation is powerless in matters of salvation. No one can put together a set of principles and implement them to obtain salvation apart from Christ, as such power is non-existent among the inhabitants of the earth.

Furthermore, within the Christian life, the apostle Paul describes a situation of no power, “For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing” (See Romans 7:19). We find it interesting he speaks of “doing” and we see an absence of power to access this doing. Be reminded that in the previous post we saw the apostle James appealing for people to become “doers of the word” (Ref: Post on Implementation and Strategy). The realisation of what is shared here by the apostle Paul may create a negativity within us.

Elsewhere, however, the apostle Paul shares with us an insight that uplifts our spirit. He says, “I can DO all THINGS through Christ who gives me STRENGTH.(See Philippians 4:13). Hallelujah, “I can do”; ability is released. Therefore, the apostle James was not putting a mammoth task ahead of the believer to practice or implement, but rather he was aware that Jesus Christ gives the ability to meet this end, and he reminds the reader that our mind-set should be geared towards implementation.

The ability that Jesus Christ gives enables us to do EVERYTHING without exception. This simply means that we are enabled both physically and spiritually. Everything includes prayer, reading the bible, living a holy life etc… Let us not stop there, this same strengthening supports the scientists and enables them to make discoveries. It guides the business person in honestly managing the resources that God has entrusted. The list is endless. We are worried when we see believers dissociating their Christian life from their day to day activity. Let’s not limit Jesus, it is time to see Him as He is, so that we can become like Him in the world.

Prayer and Meditation:

I praise you Lord!

Hallelujah! I receive the power to implement all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I declare and apply this enabling Power of Christ in all spiritual and physical areas of my life that are experiencing limitations.

Lord, extend your power of salvation to many who are powerless to implement your will.

Amen
