Implementation and resources

Day 19

Success Marathon Series

Scripture Reading:

“…wisdom is better than might, though the poor man’s wisdom is despised and his words are not heard.”

Ecclesiastes 9:16, ESV

Implementation requires resources and the sad reality of this is that some good plans that are able to change the state of things in the world are buried due to the lack of resources. We can see here that a revival can be buried by the lack of resources. Resources amplify the voice of revival by allowing missions to extend to unreached populations.

The children of Israel were called to go the desert to worship God and build him a tabernacle (See Exodus 5:1). God proclaimed to Abraham 400 earlier that the deliverance of Israel will also release resources to carry the revival to the Palestine region, in particular,  Canaan (See Genesis 15:13-14). There are many people that have experienced a partial deliverance; they still need to be released at the level of resources. We need to pray for the release of resources in the works of  ministries that have an effective revival of the Holy Spirit.

The wind of the Holy Spirit did not only come with spiritual things but it also brought a spirit of giving generously, “…many were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold and laid it at the apostles’ feet…a Levite, a native of Cyprus sold a field that belonged to him and brought the money and laid it at the apostle’s feet” (See Acts 4: 34-37). Such generous giving is not common practice nowadays. The Bible prophesies on the current attitude towards generous giving as follows, “…In the last days…people will be lovers of self, lovers of money…” (See 2 Timothy 3:1-2) Thus, a change in the generosity is listed as one of the early signs of the last days – the love of money.

All teachings that are against the doctrine of giving are an initiative by Satan to repress revival. We do not put resources at the centre of our Gospel, but Christ and Him crucified the power of salvation for the believer. However,  generous giving is a victory of the negative influence of the last days. Furthermore, we know that it is also written, “…In the last days, I will pour my Spirit on all flesh…” (See Acts 2: 17) Therefore, in the above scripture we see that Holy Spirit is deployed in the same season to counteract egocentric inclinations and the love of money in order to release resources that will propel the revival from resource poor areas to the ends of the earth. Therefore, everyone should evaluate their level of giving to see if they have not been overcome by the negative influences of the last days. Nevertheless, the Holy Spirit is also released to assist people to give generously towards missions in order to see the plans of God executed in all the nations of the earth.

Prayer and Meditation:

Lord,

May the hands of man be extended in giving to support the revival.

May my heart be opened more and more in order that I resource the gospel of salvation to the nations in as far as I can.

Increase my capacity to give

Amen
